GSA Activities
Students place pink sticky notes on everyone's lockers for Pink Revolution day.
Students read "White Privilege: Unpacking the Inivisible Knapsack" and then created their own poster titled "Unpacking Straight Privilege"
We invested in a button machine (we chose this model) so students could created buttons to promote equality and positive messages as they relate to GSA. |
A simulation where students are given cards with characters' identities on them, and are then read questions (i.e. "Would you feel comfortable holding hands with your partner in public"). Students move forward if their character would be comfortable answering "yes" to a question and stay where they are if they feel their character would say "no" to the question. A good discussion ensues after the activity is over. Some people easily make it to the other side of the classroom, while others only make it halfway. (mygsa.ca)

Bake a Rainbow Cake! This is a fun activity that students can enjoy. We bake the cake one day and ice and eat it the next. I've also seen where people make each layer of a cake a different colour and they make a very tall cake that has rainbow layers. That looks amazing, but would require some cake making skills! More AWESOME rainbow recipes can be found here! |
