The Prairie Spirit School Division's LGBTQ2+ Ad Hoc Committee is looking for feedback about PSSD's Gender & Sexuality Guiding Principles Document.  Past or present students, student-teachers, interns, employees of PSSD, and family/friends of any of those people are invited to participate in the anonymous survey.  You can access it here.

Warman High Gay-Straight Alliance

Who We Are: We are a Warman High School Club open to all grades 8-12 students.  We are an accepting and open minded group of people.

Who Can Come: All grade 8-12 students are welcome to attend our group.  Students will not be asked to share their sexual identity with others.  GSAs are not just for LGBTQI2S individuals; it is important that straight individuals attend as well and become allies in battling homophobia and promoting a community that embraces diversity.

What We Do:
- Watch videos
- Listen to guest speakers
- View presentations
- Create posters, rainbow bracelets, rainbow cakes, and tie-dye shirts
- Read and discuss articles
- Attend the “Breaking the Silence” Conference
- Share resources
- Share news of upcoming LGBTQI2S events in the community
- Raise the Rainbow Pride Flag during Pride Week

- March in the Pride Parade

What We Hope To Accomplish:
- We want to create a safe space at Warman High where everyone is welcome.
- We want to develop a sense of community.
- We want to educate people about innequalities that LGBT people face.
- We want to increase acceptance of all individuals at Warman High School regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.

When and Where are the Meetings held:
We meet at lunch on Wednesdays in the art room (B22).

The GSA SUMMIT is this Saturday in Saskatoon.

Students in the GSA read Peggy McIntosh's "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack" and then created their own poster titled "Unpacking Straight Privilege" which is on our GSA bulletin board at school.

News Article Regarding Think Tank

Sheryl Spence, Mayor of Warman, signed a proclamation declaring March 29-April 4th "Transgender Awareness Week" in the City of Warman

Pink Revolution is a Saskatchewan Initiative that promotes anti-bullying and it also coincides with Transgender Awareness week.  At Warman High our GSA teamed up with the SRC to write positive notes of affirmation and we placed them on every student's locker.  April 1st is wear pink day, so we will be paying it forward by raising awareness about this issue.
