William Shakespeare is the world's most famous author. He is considered the greatest poet and dramatist of all time. No author dead or alive has been able to accomplish what Shakespeare had done.
Shakespeare's thirty-seven plays are divided into four sections:
1) Tragedy: Hamlet, King Lear, Macbeth, and Othello (the big four);
2) Comedy: The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night;
3) History: King Henry IV, part 1 and 2, Henry V, and Henry VIII.
and 4) Romances: The Tempest, A Winter's Tale, Pericles, and Cymbeline.
Hamlet, The Prince of Denmark
Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest and most popular play. Its "To be or not to be" soliloquy is the most cited quote in the English language. While King Lear is considered Shakespeare's greatest play, Hamlet is the most cited and performed. I hope you enjoy!
